A Tale of Two Hearts: Kugan & Preethi’s Dreamy Chennai Wedding

Dreamlight Wedding Photography recently had the honor of being invited to cover Kugan & Preethi’s wedding at the Chennai VGP resort, which turned out to be one of the best weddings we have ever photographed! We started shooting their engagement photos in Mumbai and then went on to follow them to their pre-wedding photoshoot at Pondicherry, where they did some traditional outfits, along with some beach and water sports photo sessions. After that, we followed them on their journey to Chennai where we photographed them as they prepared for their big day.

First Look

Traditionally, brides are expected to wear a veil and no make-up to their wedding. The veils help preserve a sense of mystery, but it’s also traditional for grooms to not see their bride until they walk down the aisle. If you’re planning a destination wedding, you might have other ideas about your first look — do what feels right for you! Just know that whatever you choose will add additional time to your schedule. In Tamil culture, there is typically a first look with family and friends; in western culture, there may be a second look at an intimate ceremony at sunset.

Hindu Ceremony

The Hindu ceremony was a celebration of culture and family; guests from around India were in attendance, including two of their closest friends who drove 22 hours straight to get there. The day started with bridesmaids and groomsmen gathering for a puja ceremony, followed by an aarti lamp-lighting that precedes most Hindu weddings. When it came time for exchanging garlands, Kugan and Preethi stood before each other as they proceeded to exchange 20 long necklaces and matching golden-leafed bracelets. The energy during these moments was magical as friends and family members cheered on their every move. The couple then left to change into more traditional white attire before returning to say their vows in front of everyone who had gathered. Traditional Wedding Photography

Evening Celebrations

The evening celebrations were held at a lovely venue, VGP Resort in Velachery. The beautiful decor with gold and silver lights set an elegant tone for guests to enjoy. And enjoy they did! You could see people smiling and laughing as they spent time talking to friends and family members, caught up with dancing at a live band performance, or indulged in yummy food! That’s why we say that some special moments are so worth reliving, over and over again 🙂 This is where being a professional wedding photographer comes in handy; it allows you to capture all those special moments so that couples can look back at them for years to come.
